Say Cheese!

How do you much do you know about cheese? A filling for your sandwich? Toppings for your pizza or pasta? The favorite food of Jerry the mouse? Or anything else. Yes, that might be the most common definition of it. Our sandwiches are incomplete with the absence of cheese, nor our pizza and pasta. Cheese is also a key ingredient to many Filipino restaurants to serve us real nice and tasty dishes. But, being a filling or a topping is not the only advantage we can get to our dearest cheese.

Cheese is actually a milk-based food and has different flavors, textures, and forms. However, it doesn't matter what type of cheese you are eating, excluding those canned-cheese and cheese whiz spread, all kinds of it will surely do good in our body. I have here a list of some benefits we can get from a block of cheese.

First of all, you can found a high concentration of essential nutrients in it. It has a high quality of proteins and calcium. It is also a good source of phosphorus, zinc, vitamin A, riboflavin, and vitamin B12.

It can also help us in preventing cavity. Since it is rich in calcium, which happens to be the most important nutrients for our teeth, it can really help us avoid dental problems. In addition, it is also very low in lactose, which comes from other foods and can harm your teeth. As the cheese gets older, its lactose content also gets lesser. It is proven that eating cheese every after meal, can help avoid the risk of tooth decay.

It also contains Linoleic Acid. It can help in preventing cancer. In fact, the vitamin B content of cheese is a good substance for maintaining body functions and can protect the body from diseases.

It is also good in strengthening our bones, especially our active children, elderly people, pregnant and lactating mothers. Like what I've mentioned earlier, it is rich in calcium, which is vital for building strong bones and muscles. While, vitamin B helps the body to absorb and distribute calcium. One of the known bone problems is osteoporosis, and the best way to help your bones is to eat cheese. All nutrients needed for preventing osteoporosis can be found in cheese, such as protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals.

There's a study which reveals that cheese also induce a good nights' sleep, and also helps in producing vivid and realistic dream, and in some cases helps produce a lucid dream. 200 participants join this study and each of them eat at least 20 grams of cheese, 30 minutes before they sleep for a whole week. 75% of the participants claimed that they have longer and vivid dreams while the remaining 25% have a well rested night and none were reported to have any nightmares. It's also said that your dreams may vary depending on what of type cheese you will eat.
High blood pressure can also be prevented by eating cheese. But in this case, you must be careful in choosing a cheese to take. The fat in cheese depends on the quality of the milk it was made with, and since sodium and cholesterol are the elements that are considered harmful in people with high blood pressure, cheese must be considered critically. However, there are lots of low-sodium and low-fat cheese, which are really helpful for those who has high blood pressure. Eating cheese alone can be plain, so try some recipes that uses cheese here!

For those people who wants to gain weight, it is also good to consider cheese. It has a complete package that keeps muscles and bones strong and healthy. But for those who are trying to loose weight, try to pick the cheese that is low in fat to make healthy dessert or snacks, that can be very healthy for you and perfect to keep your weight balance.

Now, try to have more cheese in your food selection and get to know it much more. It is not only a filling nor just a topping, but also a medicine. So, be cheesy! ^__^
