A popular North American dish, Chocolate-covered bacon consist of only two ingredients, cooked bacon glazed with a choice of milk chocolate or dark chocolate, the sweetness totally depends on the cook's taste. Toppings like pistachios, almond bits or even sea salt can be added to extend the range of flavors. It was even evolved into a gourmet bar food.  A very simple and fast cooking dish, perfect for any occasion even on regular days whenever you fill like eating chocolate or bacon or much better the both of them.

Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 ounce) bag semisweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 lb of uncooked bacon

Preparation:

To prepare this dish, first, heat large skillet on high flame; add bacon strips. Then, turn bacon strips over as needed with tongs. Cook back until it’s reduced to about ¼ of its original size and appears to be crispy. Preferably, bacon should be crispy; however if you want your chocolate covered bacon chewy opposed to crunchy then reduce the cooking time by removing your bacon strips earlier. Drain the bacon on paper towels to remove excess grease.

While the bacon is cooling fill the double boiler or medium sauce pan with water and bring it to a medium heat. Place the double boiler top pan in double boiler bottom pan or put the small sauce pan in the medium sauce pan. Slowly add chocolate morsels into top pan and stir while the morsels melt. Do this until all morsels have been added.

Constantly stirring will prevent the chocolate from burning. Using your fingers or tongs carefully dip the bacon strips into the chocolate, if necessary use a spoon to scoop the melted chocolate over the bacon to cover it evenly. Once coated lay the strips on a cooling rack (with something underneath to catch the drips) or waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Cool in refrigerator for 15 minutes the chocolate to set.

It is really awesome and yummy yet simple and very easy recipe to make, that is why it's a total hit at state fairs everywhere. Some say bacon couldn't get any better, but definitely, chocolate makes everything a whole lot better!
